MiTo and Giulietta Sportiva

Alfa Romeo has expanded its MiTo supermini and Giulietta compact ranges with the addition of a new Sportiva trim grade.

For the MiTo Sportiva, which is based on the existing Distinctive version, the cabin gains black Alcantara upholstery with contrast green stitching, a darkened headlining and a leather-covered steering wheel with matte black inserts.

Also included in the specification are 18” Quadrifoglio Verde alloy wheels, special kick plates for the doors and some Sportiva badges.

All told, Alfa Romeo reckons the extra equipment adds up to £1,500, although the price premium compared to the Distinctive models is only half that amount. Consequently, on-the-road prices start at £16,100 for the 0.9 litre TwinAir-powered model.

The Giulietta Sportiva uses the current Voloce variant as its basis. It’s distinguished by dark titanium 18” alloys, kick plates and red Brembo brake calipers, while the interior features leather upholstery.

Available with a choice of six engines, the lead-in 1.6 JTDM-2 diesel version costs £23,110.

Both Sportiva models can be ordered from Alfa Romeo dealers now.

First Rossi Ducati unveiled

That didn’t take long. Ducati has already begun to exploit the marketing potential of having Valentino Rossi riding for its MotoGP team by announcing a couple of special road bikes. The GP Replica kits are the latest offering from the Monster Art project, which allows owners of Ducati’s naked Monster to quickly and simply change the appearance of their machines. Comprised of graphics for the tank, pillion seat cover, front mudguard and bikini fairing, the colour schemes are inspired by the GP11 racers of Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi. Very smart they look, too. Perhaps using either the 848 or 1198 Superbikes as the basis for a homage to Ducati’s MotoGP efforts might’ve been more appropriate, but there’ll probably be more similarly-themed models in the future. Honda RC213V unveiled

Repsol Honda’s challenger for the 2012 MotoGP season , the RC213V, has been revealed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The new bike, which has a 1,000 cc engine in line with the increased capacity limit being introduced this year, will be ridden by Dani Pedrosa and reigning champion Casey Stoner. Stoner is being realistic about the team’s prospects, an understandable stance given that such a significant change to the technical regulations could potentially rewrite the formbook. Speaking at the unveiling, the Australian said: “After such a strong season in 2011, we remain focused and don’t expect to be in top form immediately. Durango Special Service

Dodge has launched the Durango Special Service SUV, which is aimed at law enforcement agencies, fire departments and other government fleet users. To ensure that it can cope with heavy duty use, the Durango features numerous upgraded components including the braking system, engine oil cooler, water pump, alternator and battery. There are a few changes to the interior too, but these are mainly to increase equipment carrying capacity. The third row of seats is deleted, for example, and extra storage compartments have been provided both underneath and to the sides of  the main cargo loadspace. One thing that’s identical to the regular Durango is the powertrain choice, meaning users will get to specify either the 290 bhp (216 kW / 294 PS) 3.6 litre Pentastar V6 or the 360 bhp (268 kW / 365 PS) 5.7 litre Hemi V8.
