Phantom Coupé Aviator

Rolls-Royce has revealed the Phantom Coupé Aviator Collection, which makes its debut at this weekend’s Pebble Beach event.

Inspired by the exploits of company co-founder Charles Stewart Rolls, who was also a keen aviation enthusiast, the new model boasts several special features.

The interior juxtaposes leather, metal and mahogany to give the feel of an aircraft cockpit from the early days of powered flight. A Thommen aviation-grade clock reinforces the theme, while the dashboard dials have a matt black finish.

Other touches include unique polished aluminium cup holders and leather floor mats. A dashboard plaque bears a facsimile of C. S. Rolls’ signature, beneath which appears the inscription ‘Aviation pioneer’.

Those aren’t the only words in the cabin, though. The leather-lined glove box displays the embossed script ‘The power of flight is as a fresh gift from the Creator, the greatest treasure yet given to man’, which recalls what C. S. Rolls said after his first flight aboard one of the Wright brothers’ machines in 1908.
