2014 Lexus IS revealed

Lexus has released the first images of the all-new 2013 IS saloon, which is due to make its public debut at the North American International Auto Show later this month.

Pictured in F Sport guise, the styling has clearly been influenced by the LF-CC concept that appeared at last year’s Paris Motor Show. It’s certainly distinctive.

The front end is dominated by a flamboyant ‘spindle’ grille (although the effect might be diluted somewhat once a number plate is attached), while the body sides feature dramatic creases that run upwards from the rear doors towards the rear light clusters.

On the inside the focus has been on providing a sportier driving position, together with more comfortable and supportive seating. But passengers haven’t been forgotten because, thanks to a longer wheelbase and thinner front seatbacks, Lexus reckons that the rear offers best-in-class knee-room.

UK sales of the 2014 Lexus IS will begin towards the end of this year. Prices and specifications have yet to be announced.

The Alfa Romeo MiTo supermini is now available with the innovative two-cylinder TwinAir petrol engine. Although its capacity is only 875 cc, a turbocharger and the MultiAir electro-hydraulic valve control system mean it produces a respectable 83 bhp (62 kW / 85 PS) and 145 Nm (103 lb/ft) of torque. Honda WSB team launch

Honda has unveiled its works team for the 2011 World Superbike championship . The announcement of Castrol as title sponsor means the return to a very familiar colour scheme for the pair of CBR1000RR Fireblade bikes, which will be ridden by Jonathan Rea and Ruben Xaus. As in recent years, Honda has entrusted Dutch concern Ten Kate Racing with running the factory WSB team. First thing on the Castrol Honda agenda is a two day testing session at the Motorland Aragón circuit in Spain later this week. The 2011 WSB season comprises thirteen rounds with Phillip Island, Australia hosting the opening race on 27 February.
