Corvette Stingray Indy 500 Pace Car

The new 2014 Corvette Stingray has been selected as this year’s Indianapolis 500 Pace Car.

Running a standard 6.2 litre LT1 V8 engine, the pace car features concealed strobe lights and various circuit-orientated safety devices.

It has also been fitted with the optional Z51 Performance Package which includes tweaked aerodynamics for better high speed stability, enhanced brake and transmission cooling, dry-sump lubrication and an electronic limited-slip differential. Completing the conversion is a striking Laguna Blue paintjob with decals on the doors and rear flanks.

The 97th Indianapolis 500, which is the fifth round of the 2013 IndyCar Series, takes place on Sunday, 26 May.

Customers will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on the 2014 Corvette Stingray though, as coupé sales aren’t due to begin until this autumn. Prices in the United States start from $51,995 (including a $995 destination charge), while the convertible version is going to cost $5,000 more when it arrives a few months later.
