TVS Jupiter scooter launched

Indian manufacturer TVS has unveiled the latest addition to its range, the Jupiter scooter.

Power comes from an all-aluminium, four-stroke, air-cooled 110 cc engine that develops 7.9 bhp (5.9 kW / 8.0 PS). Connected to a V-matic transmission, it features both kick and electric starters, an Econometer and a choice of either Eco or Power modes. Claimed average fuel consumption is a class-leading 175.1 mpg (1.6 l/100km / 62 km/l).

To help maximise practicality, the Jupiter has a large leg space, retractable bag hooks and a 17 litre under-seat storage compartment that can accommodate a full-face helmet.

Also included in the specification are alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, a low fuel warning light, an LED rear light cluster and TVS’ patented EZ centre stand. The seat height is 765 mm (30.1”), while ground clearance is 150 mm (5.9”).

With buyers able to select from Midnight Black, Titanium Grey, Volcano Red or Pristine White paintwork, the TVS Jupiter is priced at Rs. 44,200 ex-showroom in Delhi (about £430 or €515 at current exchange rates).
