Smart introduces the fortwo citybeam

A replacement fortwo is expected later this year, but that hasn’t stopped Smart from producing another special version of the current model. Named citybeam, it’s based on the passion trim grade and buyers can opt for either coupé or cabriolet body styles.

Externally, the citybeam edition is distinguished by some unique double-spoke alloy wheels, a silver tridion safety cell, LED daytime running lights and titanium-coloured headlight surrounds. The paintwork selection comprises matt anthracite, light blue or silver metallic.

On the inside, the upholstery mixes black leather with grey fabric inserts and stitching. The three-spoke sports steering wheel and upper dashboard are leather-covered too.

In Germany, the Smart fortwo citybeam will cost from €14,490 (including 19% VAT) when deliveries begin in April. It’s being offered with a choice of two 1.0 litre three-cylinder petrol engines with different outputs or an electric motor.

Prices and availability in the UK have yet to be confirmed.
