2015 Nissan Pulsar first view

Since the demise of the Almera in 2006, Nissan hasn’t offered a C-segment hatchback in the UK. However, that situation will be changing this autumn with the arrival of the all-new five-door Pulsar.

Measuring 4,385 mm (14’ 5”) from bumper to bumper, it’s slightly longer than a Volkswagen Golf but a tad shorter than a Vauxhall / Opel Astra. Interior packaging is expected to be good thanks to a class-leading wheelbase of 2,700 mm (8’ 10”).

The styling is certainly more exciting than the Almera’s. A bold front end gives the Pulsar some real presence, while neatly sculptured flanks and dramatic rear light clusters help to maintain the visual interest.

Initially the engine line-up is going to consist of a 113 bhp (85 kW / 115 PS) 1.2 litre petrol unit and a 108 bhp (81 kW / 110 PS) 1.5 litre diesel. If those outputs don’t sound enough, a 1.6 litre turbocharged petrol motor producing 187 bhp (140 kW / 190 PS) is due early in 2015.

UK prices for the 2015 Pulsar, which will be built at Nissan’s Barcelona plant, have yet to be confirmed.
