Beetle Cabriolet Karmann edition unveiled

Volkswagen has given the new Beetle Cabriolet Karmann its public debut at the Auto Mobil International motor show in Leipzig.

That name recalls the now defunct independent vehicle manufacturer which was responsible for building the original Beetle Cabriolet between 1949 and 1980. Its product portfolio also included the sporty Beetle-based Karmann Ghia coupé and convertible, so the links with Volkswagen were strong and they lasted many decades.

Based on the existing Design trim grade, the 2014 Cabriolet Karmann features a unique Sioux Brown electrically-operated folding roof that can be coordinated with a choice of seven bodywork paint shades.

Among the other distinguishing features are a set of 18” chrome ‘Disc’ wheels, special badges and Karmann-branded doorsill kick plates. The interior meanwhile gains a matt aluminium dashboard, sports seats and aluminium pedals.
