Fiat Doblò refreshed for 2015

Fiat has announced a series of styling and technical updates for its Doblò small van.

A complete facelift for the front end brings the Doblò’s looks in line with the Ram ProMaster City, which was launched recently in North America. Modified rear light clusters complete the exterior changes.

It’s a similar story inside the cab, where the Ram’s redesigned dashboard has been adopted. However, that particular enhancement won’t apply to right-hand drive models for some reason, and nor will they be available with a newly-introduced third front seat option.

Under the bonnet, more torque at lower revs is promised from the 88 bhp (66 kW / 90 PS) 1.3 litre and 103 bhp (77 kW / 105 PS) 1.6 litre MultiJet II turbo diesel engines.

Furthermore, they’re both going to be offered in EcoJet guise for the first time. This delivers improved economy thanks to fuel-saving features such as low rolling-resistance tyres, a stop-start system, an intelligent alternator and better aerodynamics.

UK sales of the 2015 Fiat Doblò are scheduled to begin next spring. Final specifications and pricing will be confirmed nearer to its arrival date.

Alfa MiTo TwinAir arrives

The Alfa Romeo MiTo supermini is now available with the innovative two-cylinder TwinAir petrol engine. Although its capacity is only 875 cc, a turbocharger and the MultiAir electro-hydraulic valve control system mean it produces a respectable 83 bhp (62 kW / 85 PS) and 145 Nm (103 lb/ft) of torque. Performance might not be scintillating - the 0-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint takes 12.5 seconds and maximum speed is 108 mph (173 km/h) - but the TwinAir’s trump card is efficiency. Carbon dioxide emissions are only 98 g/km, a level that brings numerous benefits for UK drivers including zero road tax, a full discount on the London Congestion Charge and qualification for the lowest company car benefit-in-kind rate. Fuel economy is also decent and, according to the official figures, a TwinAir-powered MiTo will manage 67.3 mpg (4.2 l/100km) on the combined cycle. Bullet Classic goes green

The Royal Enfield Bullet Classic definitely has a certain charm about it. Now it’s available as a Battle Green version, which pays homage to the company’s long relationship with the Indian Army. The association dates back to 1949, when Royal Enfield first set up an operation in Chennai to build a military spec 350 cc Bullet. Despite its 1950s looks, the Bullet Classic is surprisingly modern. The entire range received a new 499 cc engine back in 2009, featuring fuel injection and a five-speed transmission. Fortunately for riders not familiar with the traditional Royal Enfield set up, this also saw the gear change move to the left side of the bike. The Euro 3 compliant single cylinder engine produces 27 bhp (20 kW / 28 PS) and, while it’s never going to make the bikes the fastest on the market, its near 80 mpg (3.5 l/100km) fuel consumption is impressive. Aston Martin Vantage GTE

Aston Martin Racing has announced that it’ll be entering a V8 Vantage in the GTE Pro category of the 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship. Aston Martin V8 Vantage GTE. Scroll down for more images and a video. Painted in Gulf blue and orange, the car’s driver line-up has been confirmed as Adrian Fernandez, Stefan Mücke and Darren Turner. The plan is to contest all eight rounds of the WEC, which commences with the 12 Hours of Sebring on the 17th of March. For the third race - June’s Le Mans 24 Hours - a second Vantage is going to be run, but its drivers have yet to be named. In preparation for the season’s premier event the team also intends to compete in the Long Beach and Laguna Seca rounds of the American Le Mans Series.
