Volkswagen unveils the Golf Alltrack

This month’s Paris Motor Show will see the debut of Volkswagen’s SUV-inspired Golf Alltrack.

Like the existing Passat Alltrack, the Golf version takes the estate model and adds 4Motion all-wheel drive, some protective bodywork cladding, redesigned bumpers and a raised ride height.

To help maintain traction over rough terrain the specification also includes hill descent control and an EDS electronic differential lock for both axles. Furthermore, the anti-lock braking system is specially configured for off-road use.

Power comes from a selection of four engines. The sole petrol option is a 1.8 litre turbocharged unit that develops 177 bhp (132 kW / 180 PS), while the diesel line-up comprises a 1.6 litre producing 108 bhp (80 kW / 110 PS) and a 2.0 litre that offers either 147 bhp (110 kW / 150 PS) or 181 bhp (135 kW / 184 PS).

Among the Golf Alltrack’s other distinguishing features are a black honeycomb grille, a set of 17” ‘Valley’ alloy wheels, anodised silver roof rails and unique stainless steel doorsill kick plates. Completing the look is a Reflex Silver finish for the door mirror caps, side sills, underbody protection and front bumper crossbar.

Sales of the Golf Alltrack are due to begin in the UK next summer. Prices haven’t been announced yet.
