2015 BMW F 800 R announced

BMW is giving its F 800 R a comprehensive update for the 2015 model year.

The changes begin with the bike’s styling. A more conventional-looking headlight replaces the old asymmetric unit, plus the wheels, radiator shrouds and front mudguard have all been redesigned. The riding position is going to be slightly different too thanks to a lower 790 mm (31.1”) seat height, revised foot pegs and new tapered aluminium handlebars.

Also modified is the twin-cylinder engine. While its capacity of 798 cc is unaltered, output has risen from 85 bhp (64 kW / 87 PS) to 88 bhp (66 kW / 90 PS). Not a significant increase then, but the first and second gear ratios have been shortened so the 2015 F 800 R should feel sprightlier.

To go with those powertrain tweaks, BMW has upgraded the chassis by fitting an upside-down fork and a pair of radial-mounted four-piston brake calipers to the front end. Furthermore, both Electronic Suspension Adjustment and Automatic Stability Control now appear on the options list.

A UK price for the 2015 BMW F 800 R has yet to be revealed.
