Aston Martin Vantage GT3 revealed

Just 100 examples of Aston Martin's new motorsport-inspired, street-legal Vantage GT3 special edition are going to be built.

Its heavily-modified bodywork incorporates an aggressive high-downforce aero package, while the bonnet, front wings and door panels are all made from carbon fibre.

As a result, kerb weight is down by a useful 100 kg (220 lbs) to 1,565 kg (3,450 lbs). However, if that's still not light enough, a carbon fibre roof and polycarbonate glazing for the rear and rear-quarterlight windows are on the options list.

To complement the structural work, the 6.0 litre V12 engine's output has been increased from the usual 565 bhp (421 kW / 573 PS) to an anticipated 591 bhp (441 kW / 600 PS). Aston Martin has yet to release final performance figures, though.

Also included in the specification are a titanium exhaust system, Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres, Alcantara-covered carbon fibre sports seats and a revised centre console.

Deliveries of the Vantage GT3 are due to begin during the third quarter of 2015. However, anybody interested in owning one will probably be disappointed, as rumours suggest that every example has already found a buyer.
