Abarth upgrades the 595 Competizione for 2015

Abarth has given the 1.4 litre turbocharged engine used in its 595 Competizione a retune.

As a result, power is up from 157 bhp (117 kW / 160 PS) to 177 bhp (132 kW / 180 PS). Peak torque meanwhile has risen by 20 Nm (14 lb/ft) to 250 Nm (184 lb/ft).

That output is enough to accelerate the 2015 model from rest to 62 mph (100 km/h) in only 6.7 seconds, before propelling it on to a top speed of 140 mph (225 km/h). Combined cycle fuel economy is still a respectable 48.7 mpg (5.8 l/100km), though.

Sabelt seats, a Monza exhaust system, Brembo brakes and 17” alloy wheels all remain part of the standard specification. Naturally, there are plenty of personalisation options to tempt buyers too.

Available to order later this month, the 595 Competizione is being offered in hatchback and convertible guises with a choice of two transmissions:

Body style Manual MTA*
595 Competizione £19,890 £21,190
595C Competizione £21,890 £23,190
* Manual Transmission Automated semi-automatic gearbox.
