Chevrolet Silverado Special Ops concept

Chevrolet has taken a Silverado 1500 Z71 and turned it into a rescue vehicle for special-operations forces.

The concept, which has been unveiled at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas, wears a naval-inspired 'razzle dazzle' blue camouflage colour scheme.

To improve the pick-up's all-terrain ability, the enhanced specification includes 20” wheels shod with off-road tyres, extended wheel arches and underbody protection guards. For extra illumination at night, auxiliary LED lights are fitted to a bed-mounted sport bar and across the top of the front grille.

Technical upgrades comprise an engine air intake, a replacement exhaust and stronger brakes, all of which come from the Chevrolet Performance accessory range.

Inside, the seat covers and floor liners are waterproof. Special Ops logos embroidered on the head restraints complete the theme.

Honda WSB team launch

Honda has unveiled its works team for the 2011 World Superbike championship . The announcement of Castrol as title sponsor means the return to a very familiar colour scheme for the pair of CBR1000RR Fireblade bikes, which will be ridden by Jonathan Rea and Ruben Xaus. As in recent years, Honda has entrusted Dutch concern Ten Kate Racing with running the factory WSB team. First thing on the Castrol Honda agenda is a two day testing session at the Motorland Aragón circuit in Spain later this week. The 2011 WSB season comprises thirteen rounds with Phillip Island, Australia hosting the opening race on 27 February.
