Citroën C3 WRC concept revealed

Despite the 'concept' suffix, the new C3 WRC unveiled at the Paris Motor Show is almost the car that will compete in next year's World Rally Championship.

Based on the latest five-door model, it complies with the revamped series regulations being introduced by the FIA for 2017. In terms of bodywork modifications, they allow a larger rear wing, longer overhangs, bigger sill extensions and more elaborate aerodynamic appendages.

Power still comes from a 1.6 litre turbocharged petrol engine. However, output is now up to around 375 bhp (280 kW / 380 PS) and overall weight is down by 25 kg (55 lbs), so better performance is expected.

The 2017 WRC begins with the Rallye Monte Carlo in January.
