Peugeot announces the Partner Tepee Electric

Peugeot has finally decided to offer an electric-powered version of the five-seat Partner Tepee MPV. Considering the virtually identical Partner Electric van was first unveiled in 2012, its arrival has been rather a long time coming.

Instead of an internal combustion engine, a 65 bhp (49 kW / 67 PS) electric motor sits beneath the bonnet. Peak torque is rated at 200 Nm (147 lb/ft) and a single-speed constant-ratio transmission is fitted.

Electricity is supplied by two lithium-ion battery packs, which are installed beneath the passenger compartment adjacent to the rear suspension. A combined capacity of 22.5 kWh allows an NEDC driving range of 106 miles (170 kilometres).

From flat to full, recharging via a regular domestic socket takes around eight hours. Alternatively, an optional (but seemingly essential) CHAdeMO-compatible fast charger takes thirty minutes to replenish the batteries to 80%.

Uniquely, the electric model’s heating or air conditioning can be remotely pre-set using a smartphone or tablet. The same app is also able to estimate recharge duration and show the prevailing battery charge state.

Deliveries of the Partner Tepee Electric are due to start in September.
