Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR updated for 2017

Following its first year of competition, Volkswagen Motorsport has tweaked the Golf GTI TCR for the upcoming season.

The main focus has been on improving the aerodynamics, but strict series regulations don’t really give manufacturers much scope to change things.

Nevertheless, Volkswagen has tried to reduce drag by altering the car’s vents and fender profiles. Furthermore, power delivery from the 345 bhp (257 kW / 350 PS) 2.0 litre engine has been modified, control of the sequential transmission is now better and a new electric power steering system has been fitted.

Each car carries a price tag of €90,000 (around £78,500 at current exchange rates) plus VAT. Volkswagen is expecting to deliver thirty examples to customer teams during 2017.
