Nissan reveals the Leaf Nismo Concept
Although it carries a 'concept' tag, the Nissan Leaf Nismo appears to be practically ready for production.
As befits a Nismo model, a more aggressive look is provided by revised bumpers, side skirt extensions and larger alloy wheels. While they enhance the car's image, such modifications also serve other purposes.
For instance, Nissan reckons that the bodywork changes reduce aerodynamic lift (without adversely affecting the Leaf's drag coefficient), plus a tyre upgrade results in more mechanical grip. Sportier suspension settings complement those improvements.
However, details about performance are fairly vague. A “custom-tuned computer” is claimed to deliver better acceleration, but the rest of the pure-electric powertrain seems to have been left as standard.
Nissan is currently exhibiting the Leaf Nismo Concept at the Tokyo Motor Show.
