Suzuki is updating the Vitara for 2019
Next month will see the arrival of a revised Vitara. The changes come three years after the small crossover was originally launched by Suzuki.
On the outside, a mild facelift comprises restyled bumpers, a new grille, the adoption of LED rear light clusters and some redesigned alloy wheels. Interior alterations meanwhile are limited to an improved instrument display and the use of a soft-touch material for the dashboard’s upper section.
Arguably, the most significant enhancement for 2019 concerns the powertrain line-up.
Suzuki’s decision to ditch the 1.6 litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine means that the entry-level SZ4 and mid-level SZ-T variants now feature a 1.0 litre Boosterjet petrol motor. Thanks to a turbocharger, it produces a respectable 109 bhp (81 kW / 111 PS).
However, if more output is required, then customers will have to opt for the SZ5. That’s because this range-topping trim grade is equipped with a 138 bhp (103 kW / 140 PS) 1.4 litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol unit instead.
Performance and efficiency figures – as well as prices – have yet to be published, though.
