Kia reveals the Stinger GTS limited edition

Various carbon fibre components, unique Federation Orange paintwork, a sunroof and some bespoke badges identify the Stinger GTS.

This special model, which has been launched at the New York International Auto Show, also gains a Harman/Kardon premium audio set-up, wireless charging for smartphones, a suede-like ‘Chamude’ headlining and an Alcantara-covered steering wheel.

However, the upgrades aren’t just cosmetic, because customers can opt for a revised version of the Stinger’s all-wheel drive system. Known as D-AWD, it combines a rearwards bias with a mechanical limited-slip differential on the back axle.

Indeed, a new Drift driving mode sends all of the 3.3 litre V6 turbo engine’s 365 bhp (276 kW / 370 PS) to the rear wheels, while preventing the eight-speed automatic transmission from up-shifting. For less exuberant use, the Sport and Comfort settings respectively deliver 20% and 40% of output to the front wheels.

With D-AWD, the Stinger GTS is expected to cost $46,500 in the United States. Alternatively, a purely rear-wheel drive variant should be $2,500 cheaper.

Kia intends to build just 800 examples.
