Škoda Mountiaq pick-up concept revealed
A team of thirty-five apprentices from Škoda’s Vocational School has built the Mountiaq, a one-off conversion based on the Kodiaq mid-size SUV.
The specially strengthened pick-up body features a two-seat cab, shortened doors and a cargo box that incorporates underfloor storage compartments. Redesigned bumpers, sill-mounted running boards and Sunset Orange paintwork further add to the unique look.
Rough-terrain ability should be decent enough, because the Mountiaq has 29 cm (11.4”) of ground clearance. It’s also fitted with a front-mounted winch, a bullbar, 17” Rockstar II five-spoke wheels, deep-tread off-road tyres and an air-intake snorkel.
Power comes from a 2.0 litre petrol engine that develops 187 bhp (140 kW / 190 PS). However, all of the modifications have resulted in a hefty kerb weight of 2,450 kg (5,401 lbs), so performance is unlikely to be impressive.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, there aren’t any plans for a production model at this stage.
