2012 Honda CBR600RR

Anyone hoping for updates to the Honda CBR600RR for 2012 is going to be disappointed.

The only change from the current version is a new red and white colour scheme, which joins the existing all-black option. Maybe next year will bring some more comprehensive revisions?

Doblò is Van of the Year

The original Fiat Doblò was notable for its ‘challenging’ looks, but that didn’t stop it winning the International Van of the Year award back in 2006. Now the same feat has been repeated by its successor, the recently launched all-new Doblò, which certainly seems to have had a bit more attention paid to its visual appeal. The decision to give the 2011 International Van of the Year title to the Doblò was made by a jury of 24 journalists, all from commercial vehicle publications in different countries. It achieved 128 points out of a possible 168, with the judges citing the wide range of body types and engine choices as particularly praiseworthy. Available in either Cargo panel van or Combi five-seater versions, both can be specified in either standard or Maxi long wheelbase configuration. Honda PCX125 upgraded

Honda’s best selling PCX125 scooter is set to become even more economical thanks to the use of the latest enhanced Smart Power (eSP) engine technology. To go with the innovative Idle Stop system of the existing model, the improved single-cylinder, four-stroke engine gets a new chemical treatment for the cylinder, tweaks to the combustion chamber and a revised cooling system. As a result, average fuel economy increases from 130.1 mpg (2.17 l/100km) to 134.5 mpg (2.10 l/100km). Honda PCX125 eSP The 2012 Honda PCX125 with eSP goes on sale in the UK this summer. A price has yet to be confirmed, but it’s not expected to change much from the current version’s £2,550. Honda has also announced the larger capacity PCX150, which will be offered in some European markets and North America. The chances of it joining the UK range appear slim, though. New Citroën C1 Connexion

The Citroën C1 Connexion limited edition was created via a Facebook app that allowed users to virtually build their own configuration. Over 24,000 designs were submitted, so it’s perhaps a little disheartening that the one eventually chosen by the public to make it to production isn’t more exciting. All that differentiates the Connexion from the model it’s based on, the 1.0i VTR, is a series of cosmetic changes. Included among these are 14” ‘Rift’ alloy wheels, Caldera Black metallic paint and dark-tinted rear windows. As a finishing touch, a Scarlet Red finish has been applied to the door handles, door mirrors and rear number plate surround on the outside, and to the sill protectors, carpet mats and various trim pieces on the inside. On sale now, the Citroën C1 Connexion costs £9,495 for the three-door, or £9,845 for the five-door. Those amounts represent a premium of £500 compared to the respective VTR prices. Suzuki SV650S returns

After a brief absence, the SV650S is returning to Suzuki GB’s line-up. Priced at £4,999 on the road, it seems rather a bargain - so much so that maybe Suzuki has shot itself in the foot. That’s because spending an extra £725 on an SV650 Sport, which is the same bike except for its pillion seat cover and fairing lowers, just got much harder to justify. The S even manages to be cheaper than the similarly-engined naked Gladius, which costs £5,274 OTR. Of course list price and actual price are two very different things. For example, there’s currently a Scottish dealer offering the Sport at £4,595, but that could be an indication that Suzuki dealers are very willing to haggle right now. The all-rounder middleweight / ‘first big bike’ market is very crowded, with well-established models such as the Kawasaki ER-6f, Yamaha XJ6 and Honda CBF600, as well as less obvious choices such as the Ducati Monster 696 or Aprilia Shiver 750.
