DC100 concept updated

Land Rover has revealed an updated version of its DC100 concept at the New York International Auto Show.

The design shows what a replacement for the venerable Defender might look like. Its presence in New York is particularly significant, as it signals that Land Rover is seriously considering offering a future production version of the DC100 in North America.

In this latest incarnation, the DC100 is equipped with expedition accessories including an integrated winch, a roof-mounted rack and a snorkel for the air intake.

Ensuring that the DC100 can perform off-road is a development of Land Rover’s Terrain Response system, which adapts the vehicle to differing conditions without a need for the driver to select a particular mode.

Also featured is Terrain-i, a device that scans the topography, renders it as a 3D visualisation and then assists with route planning. Fording should be easier too thanks to Wade Aid, a gizmo that uses sonar sensors in the door mirrors and bumpers to gauge water depth.
