Honda PCX125 upgraded

Honda’s best selling PCX125 scooter is set to become even more economical thanks to the use of the latest enhanced Smart Power (eSP) engine technology.

To go with the innovative Idle Stop system of the existing model, the improved single-cylinder, four-stroke engine gets a new chemical treatment for the cylinder, tweaks to the combustion chamber and a revised cooling system.

As a result, average fuel economy increases from 130.1 mpg (2.17 l/100km) to 134.5 mpg (2.10 l/100km).

The 2012 Honda PCX125 with eSP goes on sale in the UK this summer. A price has yet to be confirmed, but it’s not expected to change much from the current version’s £2,550.

Honda has also announced the larger capacity PCX150, which will be offered in some European markets and North America. The chances of it joining the UK range appear slim, though.
