Sporty Honda Jazz Si
The Honda Jazz has, perhaps unfairly, earned the reputation of being a pensioners’ car. Now though, the arrival of a new variant could help extend the supermini’s appeal beyond its stereotypical demographic.
Available as a limited edition based on the existing ES version, the Jazz Si promises a sportier image thanks to 16” alloy wheels, privacy glass, front fog lights, side skirts and redesigned bumpers. On the inside, there are more supportive front seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and cruise control.
But the changes aren’t just cosmetic, as revised dampers and a thicker front anti-roll bar should mean sharper handling. To complement the retuned suspension, the electric power-assisted steering has been recalibrated for enhanced feel.
However, don’t expect any more performance, as the unmodified 1.4 litre petrol engine still produces 98 bhp (72 kW / 99 PS) and 127 Nm (94 lb/ft) of peak torque. The result is an adequate, if fairly unexciting, 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 11.5 seconds and a top speed of 113 mph (181 km/h).
The Honda Jazz Si has an on the road price of £14,550, which is £800 more than the equivalent Jazz ES. Buyers will be able to choose from Crystal Black, Azure Blue, Milano Red or White Orchid paintwork.
Alternatively, an Si-T model is also being offered which includes a satellite navigation system and Bluetooth. It costs £15,545.
