2013 Renault Scénic XMOD
With its raised ride height, body cladding and unique bumpers, the new Renault Scénic XMOD appears at first glance to be a spiritual successor to the all-wheel drive Scénic RX4 that was launched over a decade ago.
However, the 2013 model is strictly front-wheel drive, although the specification does include ‘Grip Xtend’ traction control. Operated via a rotary dial on the centre console, the system offers a choice of Road, Expert and Loose Ground modes that can control both the brakes and engine torque. Renault claims that it’s good enough to allow the Scénic to ‘grip the road confidently’ in arduous conditions such as fresh snow, mud or sand.
The Renault Scénic XMOD is going to be unveiled at next month’s Geneva Motor Show, when detailed specifications and pricing will be confirmed.
