Amarok Power-Pickup specs

Volkswagen has released further details about its Amarok Power-Pickup concept that appeared at the Wörthersee GTI-Treffen.

The concept’s distinctive, purposeful stance is thanks to a larger front air intake, lowered suspension, 22” alloy wheels and widened wheel arches. Completing the look are its load-space fairing, chrome grille, carbon fibre rear diffuser, tinted taillights and tri-colour decals.

Inside the cab, a pair of leather-trimmed sports seats has been fitted and the specification also includes an infotainment system that’s controlled via an 8” touchscreen.

While the regular Amarok range features a selection of 2.0 litre four-cylinder diesel engines, the Power-Pickup lives up to its name by using a 3.0 litre V6 turbo diesel motor instead.

Producing 268 bhp (200 kW / 272 PS) with 600 Nm (443 lb/ft) of torque, it’s connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a 4Motion permanent all-wheel drive system. The result is a very respectable 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 7.9 seconds.

There’s no official word yet on whether something similar to the Power-Pickup might turn into a production model. If it did, a performance-orientated Amarok could be an interesting alternative to traditional SUVs such as Volkswagen’s own Touareg, especially in four-door double cab guise.
