Mercedes-Benz GLA Edition 1 announced

In a practice which is becoming traditional for its new models, Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that a special Edition 1 version of the 2014 GLA compact SUV will be available from launch.

On the outside, the Edition 1 is distinguished by its gloss black 19” AMG alloy wheels, black door mirror caps, a black and chrome front grille, rear privacy glass and bi-xenon headlights. Paintwork choice is restricted to metallic brown, two shades of grey or white.

However, the part-leather, moccasin-stitched upholstery is the most eye-catching feature. Mixing brown and tan, it’s complemented by a black roof liner and unique floor mats. Also included on the interior equipment list are a flat-bottom sports steering wheel, aluminium trim, the ‘Light and Sight’ package and brushed stainless steel pedals.

With sales of the GLA scheduled to begin in March 2014, the Edition 1 can be ordered from next month.

Honda WSB team launch

Honda has unveiled its works team for the 2011 World Superbike championship . The announcement of Castrol as title sponsor means the return to a very familiar colour scheme for the pair of CBR1000RR Fireblade bikes, which will be ridden by Jonathan Rea and Ruben Xaus. As in recent years, Honda has entrusted Dutch concern Ten Kate Racing with running the factory WSB team. First thing on the Castrol Honda agenda is a two day testing session at the Motorland Aragón circuit in Spain later this week. The 2011 WSB season comprises thirteen rounds with Phillip Island, Australia hosting the opening race on 27 February.
