2014 Honda VFR800F unveiled

In developing the 2014 VFR800F, Honda says it listened to existing owners to gauge what revisions were required.

As a result, the updated middleweight sports tourer offers sharper looks, extra equipment and a retuned engine. Furthermore, an adjustable seat height and a lighter kerb weight should allow the VFR800F to appeal to a wider selection of riders.

Power comes from a 782 cc V4 motor that produces 104 bhp (78 kW / 106 PS) with 75 Nm (55 lb/ft) of peak torque. For 2014 the focus has been on delivering improved low- and mid-range outputs, as well as tweaking the infamous VTEC variable valve timing to make its operation smoother than before.

A rider-switchable traction control system is now fitted as standard, as are anti-lock brakes. Additional convenience features include self-cancelling indicators, LED lights front and rear, five-stage heated handlebar grips and a seat that can be set at either 789 mm (31.1”) or 809 mm (31.9”).

Among the various chassis component changes are a redesigned exhaust, a new single-sided swingarm and a modified aluminium subframe. All play significant roles in bringing the VFR800F's weight down by 10 kg (22 lbs) to 239 kg (527 lbs).

Buyers will have a choice of Darkness Black Metallic, Victory Red or Pearl Glare White paintwork. UK pricing for the 2014 VFR800F has yet to be announced.
