2015 Dodge Charger revealed

Dodge is giving its four-door Charger a comprehensive series of styling and mechanical updates for 2015.

A striking new front end incorporates redesigned panels, a more low-profile ‘crosshairs’ grille, LED daytime running lights and projector headlamps. Reprofiled C-pillars are the other major bodywork change, but the front doors, bumpers and LED taillights are all new too.

Inside, the 2015 Charger gains a configurable 7” thin-film transistor gauge display and a revised centre console that accommodates either a 5” or an 8.4” touchscreen. Buyers will get to choose from refreshed cloth and leather upholstery ranges.

An expanded list of safety devices is another key development. Among the systems available are Adaptive Cruise Control Plus with Full Stop, Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist and Forward Collision Warning-Plus.

SE and SXT trim grades continue to be powered by a 3.6 litre Pentastar V6 engine that produces 292 bhp (218 kW / 296 PS), or 300 bhp (224 kW / 304 PS) with the optional Rallye Appearance Group package. The R/T and R/T Road & Track versions meanwhile feature the familiar 370 bhp (276 kW / 375 PS) 5.7 litre Hemi V8 that boasts a four-cylinder fuel-saving mode.

Both motors are now mated to the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission, plus the SE and SXT can be equipped with all-wheel drive. Furthermore, all models have acquired lightweight cast aluminium rear axles and three-mode electric power steering.

Production of the 2015 Dodge Charger is scheduled to begin towards the end of this year. Prices have yet to be announced.

Honda WSB team launch

Honda has unveiled its works team for the 2011 World Superbike championship . The announcement of Castrol as title sponsor means the return to a very familiar colour scheme for the pair of CBR1000RR Fireblade bikes, which will be ridden by Jonathan Rea and Ruben Xaus. As in recent years, Honda has entrusted Dutch concern Ten Kate Racing with running the factory WSB team. First thing on the Castrol Honda agenda is a two day testing session at the Motorland Aragón circuit in Spain later this week. The 2011 WSB season comprises thirteen rounds with Phillip Island, Australia hosting the opening race on 27 February.
