2014 What Car? / J. D. Power survey
Jaguar and Lexus have been jointly named the country’s top-rated manufacturers in the latest annual What Car? UK car ownership satisfaction survey, which was compiled by J. D. Power.
The 2014 study encompassed the views of 15,562 drivers whose cars were first registered between January 2011 and December 2012.
Eligibility was restricted to those models with at least 4,000 unit sales though, so arguably some brands’ results might have been skewed somewhat. Jaguar’s performance as a brand was based solely on the XF, for example.
It was a similar situation at the other end of the scale. Chevrolet was once again the worst marque with a score of 67.6%, but only the now defunct Spark contributed to that ranking.
Undoubtedly the individual tallies are going to be of more relevance to anybody considering buying a particular car.
As shown below, the top ten was dominated by Volkswagen Group products (even if a couple of them are fairly uncommon). The bottom ten meanwhile held some surprises, notably the Smart ForTwo and supposedly premium BMW X1.
