One of Škoda’s contributions to this year’s Wörthersee GTI Treffen will be the rally-inspired Yeti Xtreme concept.

Finished in matte grey with a contrasting yellow-green roof, it features extended wheel arches that house 17” wheels shod with off-road tyres. Also part of the specification are redesigned bumpers and LED headlights.

The theme continues on the inside. Four individual Recaro seats are fitted, along with four-point safety belts, aluminium deck plate floor panels, plenty of carbon fibre trim and a thicker sports steering wheel. There’s even a fire extinguisher and a sand shovel.

Don’t necessarily expect rally-winning performance though. That’s because the all-wheel drive Yeti Xtreme uses a relatively humble 150 bhp (112 kW / 152 PS) 1.8 litre TSI petrol engine which is connected to a six-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission.

As a result, the 0-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint takes a fairly leisurely 9.0 seconds and the top speed is 119 mph (192 km/h). However, stopping should be easier thanks to upgraded brakes taken from the Octavia RS, plus the ride height is adjustable to help cope with rough terrain.

The 2014 GTI Treffen takes place in Reifnitz, Austria and it begins on the 28th of May.
