2015 Seat Leon X-Perience first view

Across the Volkswagen Group, jacked-up estate cars with modest all-terrain ambitions are common. Škoda markets them under the Scout name, Audi offers the Allroad and Volkswagen itself has the Alltrack. Now Seat, a relative latecomer to this particular niche, has decided to join in with the Leon X-Perience.

Based on the existing Leon ST wagon, it follows a proven recipe. Protective body cladding, unique bumpers, roof rails and a higher ride height all contribute to a suitably rugged look.

To ensure decent off-road ability, the X-Perience comes with a Haldex permanent all-wheel drive system which incorporates electronic differential locks on both axles.

It’s paired with a 2.0 litre turbo diesel engine that’s available with a choice of two outputs. The 148 bhp (110 kW / 150 PS) option is matched with a six-speed manual gearbox, while the 181 bhp (135 kW / 184 PS) alternative features a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

In the UK, orders for the Seat Leon X-Perience will be accepted from September. Pricing has yet to be announced.
