Volkswagen Amarok Ultimate announced

Volkswagen has revealed a new range-topping Ultimate trim grade for the Amarok pick-up.

Among its distinguishing features are some body-side graphics, a set of polished 19” alloy wheels, chrome grille strips and bi-xenon headlights that incorporate LED daytime running lights.

Available in a selection of six paint finishes, the Ultimate also comes with darkened taillight clusters, power folding and heated door mirrors, chrome sill bars and a reversing camera. Furthermore, an enhanced interior specification includes Alcantara upholstery, heated front seats, floor mats and a satellite navigation system.

The engine line-up consists of the usual 138 bhp (103 kW / 140 PS) 2.0 litre TDI and 177 bhp (132 kW / 180 PS) 2.0 litre BiTDI turbo diesel units. They can both be combined with either a manual or automatic transmission, and there’s a choice of rear- or all-wheel drive.

In Germany, prices for the Amarok Ultimate start from €41,376.30 including VAT.

Honda WSB team launch

Honda has unveiled its works team for the 2011 World Superbike championship . The announcement of Castrol as title sponsor means the return to a very familiar colour scheme for the pair of CBR1000RR Fireblade bikes, which will be ridden by Jonathan Rea and Ruben Xaus. As in recent years, Honda has entrusted Dutch concern Ten Kate Racing with running the factory WSB team. First thing on the Castrol Honda agenda is a two day testing session at the Motorland Aragón circuit in Spain later this week. The 2011 WSB season comprises thirteen rounds with Phillip Island, Australia hosting the opening race on 27 February.
