Toyota’s WRC plans confirmed
Toyota Motorsport is going to return to the FIA World Rally Championship in 2017.
The team, which is based in Cologne, has already begun developing the Yaris WRC in preparation for its campaign.
As per the series’ regulations, the car features a four-cylinder 1.6 litre turbocharged petrol engine that develops around 300 horsepower (220 kW) with 420 Nm (310 lb/ft) of torque. Also included in the specification are a six-speed sequential transmission and all-wheel drive.
Toyota last entered the WRC in 1999, when it won the manufacturers’ title.
