2015 World Car Awards finalists

A jury of 75 international motoring journalists has decided the ten finalists for this year’s World Car of the Year, World Luxury Car and World Performance Car awards.

Across the three categories, European brands account for sixteen of the models listed. American and Asian marques are represented by seven each.

World Car of the Year

  • Ford Mustang
  • Hyundai Genesis
  • Jeep Renegade
  • Mazda2
  • Mercedes-Benz C-Class
  • Mini 5-Door Hatch (known as the Hardtop 4 Door in the USA)
  • Nissan Qashqai
  • Volkswagen Passat

The Citroën C4 Cactus could be named 2015's
World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year.


World Luxury Car

  • Cadillac ATS Coupe

World Performance Car

As in previous years, the shortlists for the World Green Car and World Car Design of the Year prizes have been agreed on by expert panels.

World Green Car

  • Kia Soul EV
  • Volvo XC90 T8 Twin Engine
  • Volkswagen Golf GTE

World Car Design of the Year
  • BMW 2 Series Active Tourer
  • Citroën C4 Cactus
  • Mercedes-Benz C-Class
  • Porsche Macan
  • Volvo XC90

There now follows a second round of voting by the aforementioned jury to establish the winners of all five awards.

As a teaser, the top three finalists will be announced at next month’s Geneva International Auto Show. The victors are then due to be declared at the New York International Auto Show on the 2nd of April.
