The Toyota RAV4 becomes a rally car
A small SUV is perhaps an unlikely candidate for conversion to a rally car. However, that hasn’t stopped Toyota from preparing a RAV4 for the Rally America championship.
Driven by Ryan Millen with Christina Fate taking care of navigation, it’ll compete in the 2WD-Open Class.
While the RAV4’s 176 bhp (131 kW / 178 PS) 2.5 litre four-cylinder engine and transmission remain stock, the suspension set-up is upgraded and the interior has been stripped out. Of course, the rally version’s specification also includes mandatory safety items such as a full roll cage.
The plan is to enter the RAV4 in six Rally America West Series events, starting with the Idaho Rally in June.
