Mulliner introduces stone veneers

Mulliner – Bentley's bespoke division – has announced that customers can now adorn the interior of their cars with stone veneer.

Made from slate and quartzite, this new choice of material comes from Indian quarries in Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh. Bentley says it's “sustainably sourced”, whatever that means – surely once rock is out of the ground, replacement is impossible?

Semantics aside, the 0.1 millimetre-thick stone veneers are cured using glass fibre and a special resin, before being hand-finished. The end result, which is currently available for the Continental and Flying Spur models, actually looks rather attractive.

Four different colours called Copper, Galaxy, Terra Red and Autumn White are being offered.
