Fiat celebrates the Nuova 500’s 60th birthday

On the 4th of July 1957, Fiat launched the ‘Nuova’ 500. So, how to commemorate that car’s imminent diamond anniversary? The answer is to create a special version of the current model, of course.

Actually, the aptly-named Sessantesimo looks very classy. Based on the convertible 500C, it features white and pastel ivory two-tone ‘Dolcevita’ paintwork and a grey fabric roof.

Burgundy and grey pinstripes, 16” alloy wheels, chrome door mirror caps, retro Fiat badges and unique ‘560’ logos further add to the theme.

Inside, exclusive ingredients include a vinyl-covered dashboard panel, ivory leather upholstery, dual-colour floor mats and a build-number plaque. Climate control, cruise control, a Beats Audio music player and a Uconnect infotainment system with navigation all appear on the extensive standard equipment list.

Engine choice comprises 1.2 litre petrol, 0.8 litre TwinAir petrol and 1.3 litre Multijet II turbo-diesel units.

Fittingly, Fiat is planning to limit production of the Sessantesimo to just 560 examples. Available in most major European markets, deliveries will begin on the 4th of July 2017.
