Nissan Ultimate Service Titan unveiled

Nissan and the American Red Cross have devised a special emergency response vehicle. The one-off Ultimate Service is based on a Titan XD Midnight Edition Crew Cab, which is powered by a Cummins 5.0 litre V8 turbo-diesel engine.

A bespoke chassis-mounted box replaces the truck’s usual cargo bed. This lightweight unit contains a bed and first aid equipment for casualty care, a blood storage refrigerator, communications gear and a slide-out kitchenette. Its specification also includes an elevating roof, solar panels, a generator and a wi-fi hotspot.

Incidents don’t always occur in convenient locations. Therefore, to ensure that the Titan XD can traverse rough terrain, an Icon suspension lift kit and Icon Compression wheels shod with Nitto Ridge Grappler tyres are fitted. If extrication is ever required, then the custom front bumper incorporates a Warn Zeon winch.

The Ultimate Service Titan is currently being displayed at the Miami Auto Show. Afterwards, it’ll be donated to the American Red Cross for use in southern Florida.

Honda WSB team launch

Honda has unveiled its works team for the 2011 World Superbike championship . The announcement of Castrol as title sponsor means the return to a very familiar colour scheme for the pair of CBR1000RR Fireblade bikes, which will be ridden by Jonathan Rea and Ruben Xaus. As in recent years, Honda has entrusted Dutch concern Ten Kate Racing with running the factory WSB team. First thing on the Castrol Honda agenda is a two day testing session at the Motorland Aragón circuit in Spain later this week. The 2011 WSB season comprises thirteen rounds with Phillip Island, Australia hosting the opening race on 27 February.
