Toyota commemorates fifty years of the Hilux
Toyota has unveiled the Hilux Invincible 50, a limited edition that celebrates the ubiquitous pick-up’s fiftieth birthday. Significantly, it has been created in collaboration with Arctic Trucks, so the enhancements aren’t merely cosmetic.
Modifications include an upgraded Bilstein suspension set-up. In addition, bespoke 16” satin black alloy wheels shod with 265/75R16 BF Goodrich KO2 all-terrain tyres sit beneath extended arches.
Another notable feature is a double-hoop sports bar, which incidentally serves as the mounting point for four very bright LED spotlights. Black paintwork, rear parking sensors, a bed liner, a numbered plaque on the centre console and numerous special badges complete the specification.
Power is provided by the usual 2.4 litre turbocharged diesel engine. In the absence of a manual gearbox alternative, its 148 bhp (110 kW / 150 PS) and 400 Nm (295 lb/ft) of peak torque are delivered via a six-speed automatic transmission.
Only fifty examples of the Hilux Invincible 50 are going to be offered in the UK. Toyota dealers will begin accepting orders on the 1st of November, but a price has yet to be confirmed.
