BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé launch confirmed
Given BMW’s current desire to be represented in as many market niches as possible, the imminent arrival of a compact four-door coupé comes as no surprise.
The first-ever 2 Series Gran Coupé – which will be a direct rival for the Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupé – is going to be unveiled at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show in November. Deliveries are then due to begin in spring 2020.
BMW has yet to release any specification details. However, it is known that the Gran Coupé sits on the same front-wheel drive platform that underpins the next 1 Series hatchback. Traditionalists might baulk at the shift away from rear-wheel drive, but in reality most customers won’t care.
