2013 DTM calendar

Just a few days after Canadian Bruno Spengler secured the 2012 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) drivers’ championship in his Team Schnitzer BMW M3, the series organisers have announced next year’s schedule.

There are still eleven rounds on the calendar, but the big news is that Moscow will be hosting an event for the first time. While such a move should help further expand the appeal of the DTM, it also highlights the growing importance of the Russian market to participants Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

The remainder is largely unchanged, although the non-points scoring round at Munich’s Olympic Stadium disappears, as does the Valencia race which currently leaves a gap at the end of September. The good news for DTM fans in the UK is that Brands Hatch keeps its May slot.
