2013 CRP Energica unveiled

Italian manufacturer CRP has revealed its Energica electric street bike. Although still in prototype form, the production version isn’t expected to differ too much.

Power comes from an oil-cooled electric motor that develops 134 bhp (100 kW / 135 PS) and 160 Nm (118 lb/ft) of torque. Those outputs are sufficient for a top speed of 136 mph (220 km/h), while the all-important anticipated range figure is a reasonable 93 miles (150 kilometres).

Chassis components include Marzocchi front forks and a Sachs rear monoshock damper, both of which are fully adjustable. The braking system is provided by Brembo, and it comprises dual discs with four-piston monobloc calipers for the front wheel and a single disc at the rear.

The 2013 CRP Energica makes its public debut at the EICMA show in Milan later this month.

In Italy, it will cost a steep €18,000 (around £14,400 / US $22,900 at current exchange rates) and deposits of €500 are being accepted from interested buyers. Deliveries, however, aren’t due to start until the beginning of 2014.
