Vauxhall Cascada prices
Vauxhall has announced that the Cascada convertible will be priced from £23,995 in the UK. And there’s no doubt about its aspirations for the new model, as the Audi A5 Cabriolet is being quoted as a potential rival.
Anyone who’s tempted to abandon the more premium brands in favour of the handsome Cascada is going to be faced with a choice of two trim grades and four engines.
Included in the line-up is a totally new 1.6 litre SIDI Ecotec turbocharged petrol engine. The first member of General Motors’ Mid-Size Gasoline Engine (MGE) family, it develops 167 bhp (125 kW / 170 PS) and 280 Nm (206 lb/ft) of torque.
With a six-speed automatic gearbox - the only transmission option available with this engine in the Cascada - the result is a 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time of 9.2 seconds and a top speed of 135 mph (217 km/h). However, combined cycle fuel consumption of 39.2 mpg (7.2 l/100km) isn’t particularly special, while carbon dioxide emissions are 168 g/km.
The best blend of performance and efficiency is provided by the 2.0 litre bi-turbo diesel engine. Producing 192 bhp (142 kW / 195 PS), it can accelerate the Cascada from standstill to 60 mph in 8.9 seconds, yet averages 54.3 mpg (5.2 l/100km) with a comparatively low CO2 figure of 138 g/km.
The Vauxhall Cascada arrives in dealers this April.
