Peugeot 208 T16 to contest Pikes Peak

In the late 1980s, Peugeot twice won the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with its 405 T16. This year, the firm is attempting to relive past glories by returning to Colorado with the new 208 T16.

Full details about the car are due to be revealed later this month, but Peugeot has already confirmed that it’s going to be entered in the Unlimited class where pretty much anything goes.

Driving the 208 T16 will be none other than nine-time World Rally Champion Sébastien Loeb, who is being borrowed from sister brand Citroën for this one-off appearance.

The Pikes Peak course, which is now fully paved, covers 12.42 miles (19.99 kilometres) and incorporates 156 turns. The 2013 event takes place on Sunday, June 30th.
