Jaguar XKR-S GT available in the UK

When it was first revealed at the New York International Auto Show back in March, Jaguar said production of its XKR-S GT would be limited to just 30 units with sales restricted to North America.

Now though that somewhat draconian policy has been relaxed a little, because ten examples are also being offered to customers in the UK.

The price has been set at £135,000 on the road, making the GT version £37,535 more expensive than a regular XKR-S Coupé. So what will buyers get for that premium?

Well not an engine upgrade, as the XKR-S GT uses the same 542 bhp (405 kW / 550 PS) supercharged 5.0 litre V8 that powers the normal XKR-S. However, an enhanced aerodynamics package and a recalibrated traction control system mean the 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time is reduced from 4.2 to 3.9 seconds. Top speed remains electronically-limited to 186 mph (300 km/h).

Perhaps the most significant change is a track-focussed suspension set-up that features height-adjustable adaptive dampers. It’s complemented by lightweight 20” forged alloy wheels and carbon ceramic disc brakes with monobloc calipers.

Deliveries of the Jaguar XKR-S GT are expected to begin this October.
