Lexus RC F GT3 concept unveiled
The new Lexus RC F coupé is being prepared to go GT3 racing. With the project entrusted to the brand’s Techno Craft subsidiary, the RC F GT3 will be made available to teams from next year.
Wider bodywork, a lower stance and the requisite aerodynamic components give the car a suitably purposeful look. The usual interior has been discarded in favour of a single race seat and roll cage, which has helped to bring the weight down to 1,250 kg (2,755 lbs). That’s around 550 kg (1,212 lbs) lighter than a road-going RC F.
To go with those modifications the 5.0 litre V8 engine has been tweaked too. In the RC F GT3 it’s going to produce around 532 bhp (397 kW / 540 PS), an increase of approximately 20%.
Although the car’s competition debut won’t take place until 2015, Lexus is planning to display the GT3 concept at the upcoming Geneva International Motor Show alongside the production RC F.
