2014 Mugen Shinden San revealed

After two consecutive second-place finishes in the Isle of Man TT Zero, Team Mugen must be desperate to secure a victory in the zero-emissions motorcycle race this year.

To help achieve that aim it has created the new and improved Shinden San. Compared to 2013’s bike, power is up by 11% to 134 bhp (100 kW / 136 PS) courtesy of an updated oil-cooled, three-phase electric motor. Peak torque meanwhile is now rated at 220 Nm (162 lb/ft).

Complementing the increased output is a higher-capacity 370v lithium-ion battery pack and a modified control system. Refined aerodynamics and a recalibrated suspension set-up complete the upgrades, but the bike’s total weight of 240 kg (529 lbs) remains unchanged.

John McGuinness has once again been selected to ride the Mugen. He’ll be joined by Bruce Anstey as, for the first time, the team is going to have two TT Zero entries in 2014.
