2015 Ram ProMaster City revealed
If the new Ram ProMaster City seems familiar, that’s because it’s essentially a reworked Fiat Doblò (a model which, incidentally, is also marketed in Europe by General Motors as the Vauxhall / Opel Combo).
Like the Doblò and Combo, the ProMaster City is going to be manufactured Bursa, Turkey. However the Ram version does have some unique aspects.
Key among them are the redesigned nose and a 2.4 litre Tigershark petrol engine. With MultiAir2 electro-hydraulic fully variable valve control, the four-cylinder motor develops 178 bhp (133 kW / 180 PS) with 236 Nm (174 lb/ft) of peak torque. That output is delivered to the front wheels via an innovative standard-fit 948TE nine-speed automatic transmission. Unsurprisingly though, there’s no diesel option yet.
Riding on a 310.9 cm (122.4”) wheelbase, the ProMaster City is being offered in Tradesman panel van and Wagon five-seat configurations. The Tradesman’s load area measures 221.5 cm (87.2”) long by 153.4 cm (60.4”) wide and it has an internal height of 131.6 cm (51.8”). To complement that space, maximum payload is a class-leading 854 kg (1,883 lbs).
Buyers will certainly get plenty of choice, as two trim grades and various glazing arrangements mean the range consists of eight variants:
